Painting outside includes many joyful moments; of changing light & colors, the smell of a pine tree in the sun, a hummingbird zooming past who stops to check out my colors approvingly, crows cackling together in a nearby tree, a branch cracking behind and a bull elk walking by, and best of all, meeting interesting people from all over the world.

Often I will 'move a mountain' or tree, to create the composition that I want. 

My goal is to translate to canvas the thrilling beauty of the landscape.
